Abstract

In this research, mesoprous compound MCM-41was synthesized by using CTAB as template and TEOS as silica source. In order to increase the adsorption capacity, the surface of the synthesized adsorbent was modified by 3-aminipropyletrimethoxysilane.The structure of the adsorbent was studied by XRD, IR, BET and TG-DTG techniques. For removal of cerium ion from aqueous solutions, NH-MCM-41 adsorbent was employed. The effect of experimental conditions including pH, initial cation concentration, contact time and temperature were investigated. Maximal adsorption capacity was obtained at ph = 6.
