کانسار مس±طلا رشت‌آباد (شمال زنجان) بخشی از کمربند فلززایی طارم- هشتجین در پهنه البرزغربی- آذربایجان است. واحدهای رخنمون­یافته شامل سنگ­های آتشفشانی و نیمه­عمیق ائوسن با سرشت آهکی-قلیایی تا شوشونیتی هستند که در گستره کمان آتشفشانی قرار دارند. مهمترین دگرسانی‌های در ارتباط با کانه­زایی شامل دگرسانی­های کم دمای سیلیسی و سریسیتی هستند. کانه­­سازی در رگه­های کوارتز-سولفید شامل مجموعه­­‌های اکسیدی (هماتیت)، سولفیدی (کالکوپیریت، کوولیت، بورنیت و گالن)، سولفاتی (باریت) و کربناتی (مالاکیت و آزوریت)، است. داده‌های میانبارهای سیال برای میانبارهای دوفازی مایع+بخار (L+V) اولیه، دمای 138 تا C°320 (متوسطC°229) و شوری 49/2 تا 41/9 (متوسط 95/5) درصد وزنی معادل نمک طعام، نشانگر پدیده آمیختگی هم دما و رقیق­شدگی سیال کانه­ساز هستند. همچنین مقادیر C13δ (21/9-تا ‰ 81/6-) و δ18O (14-تا ‰ 15-) نیز بیانگر عملکرد سیال جوی در شکل­گیری رگه­های کربناتی مرحله تأخیری است. ویژگی‌های اصلی کانسار رشت آباد گویای شباهت این ذخیره با کانسارهای اپی­ترمال سولفیداسیون حدواسط است.
