در این پژوهش، رخداد کانی سپیولیت برای نخستین بار از سنگ­های فرامافیک توالی افیولیتی شمال نائین گزارش می­شود. سپیولیت کانی رسی آبدار با ساختار الیافی است که به­واسطه ویژگی­های منحصر به فرد خود در صنایع مختلف کاربرد دارد. تشکیل سپیولیت، پیامد واکنش­های متعددی است که در سنگ­های فرامافیک توالی افیولیتی شمال نائین رخ داده است. این فرایند طی سه مرحله اصلی انجام شده است. ابتدا سیالات گرمابی با تاثیر بر سنگ­های فرامافیک، آنها را به سرپانتینیت تبدیل کرده­اند. هجوم سیالات دارای CO2-H2O در امتداد سطوح ضعف سرپانتینیت­های برشی و خرد شده، باعث انحلال سرپانتینیت و کربناته شدن آن شده­اند. طی کربناته شدن سرپانتینیت­ها، واکنش بین سنگ­های فرابازی با محلول­های گرمابی سبب تشکیل محلولی غنی از Mg  و/یا  Si در دمای پائین شده و سرانجام، کانی سپیولیت در نتیجه فعالیت سیالات گرمابی غنی از CO2،H2O و SiO2 شکل گرفته است.
