کانی­های رسی از جمله کانی­های الیافی، اثر قابل توجهی بر ویژگی­های فیزیکوشیمیایی خاک دارند و نمادی از مراحل تکامل خاک هستند. این پژوهش با هدف بررسی وجود پالیگورسکایت و شرایط تشکیل آن در مواد مادری و خاک­های دوره ترشیاری در شهرستان داراب استان فارس انجام شد. بدین منظور از تعداد 6 سازند و نیمرخ خاک­های منطقه نمونه­برداری شد. نمونه­ها با پراش­سنج پرتو ایکس و میکروسکوپ الکترونی روبشی بررسی شدند. بر­اساس مقایسه ترکیب کانی­شناسی مواد مادری و خاک­های حاصل، شرایط تشکیل، مقدار و ریختار پالیگورسکایت، سه خاستگاه توارثی، خاکساز و آواری برای این کانی در منطقه پیشنهاد گردید. نتایج تجزیه مولفه­های اصلی نشان داد که مقدار اسمکتیت، گچ و رسانندگی الکتریکی، ایلیت، کلسیم و منیزیم محلول و نسبت Mg/Ca موثرترین عوامل در تشکیل و پراکنش پالیگورسکایت در خاک­های منطقه هستند که بیانگر تشکیل خاکساز و درجای کانی از محلول خاک در شرایط با تبخیر بالاست.
