منطقه اکتشافی مس ـ طلا فدیهه در شمال­غربی تربت­حیدریه، استان خراسان رضوی، در بخش مرکزی کمربند ماگمایی خواف-کاشمر- بردسکن قرار دارد. این منطقه شامل برونزدهایی از واحدهای آتشفشانی ـ آذرآواری به سن ائوسن با ترکیب اسیدی تا حدواسط است که گدازه­ها ترکیب آندزیت و لاتیت دارند و واحدهای آذرآواری شامل توف ریوداسیتی، توف سنگی آندزیتی و ایگنیمبریت هستند. توده­های نفوذی شامل هورنبلند مونزوگرانیت، سینوگرانیت، پیروکسن دیوریت پورفیری و کوارتزمونزونیت پورفیری هستند. کانی­سازی کنترل ساختاری داشته و به شکل رگه ـ رگچه­ای در راستای روند اصلی گسل­های منطقه شمال غربی- جنوب شرقی (NW-SE) و شمال شرقی- جنوب غربی (NE-SW) تشکیل شده است. رگه­های کانی­سازی با راستای °75 شرقی-    °45 شمالی و °30 غربی° 15 شمالی، طول 2 تا 25 متر و ضخامت 2/0 تا 2متر دارند. مهمترین رگه­های منطقه شامل کوارتز+اسپیکیولاریت ±پیریت و کوارتز+ اسپیکیولاریت± کالکوپیریت هستند. سنگ میزبان شامل پیروکسن دیوریت پورفیری، کوارتزمونزونیت پورفیری و هورنبلند مونزوگرانیت است.  ساخت و بافت کانی­سازی شامل رگه ـ رگچه، پرکننده فضای خالی، برشی، جانشینی ثانویه، گل کلمی و پراکنده است. دگرسانی رگه­های کانی­سازی سیلیسی و کلریتی است. دگرسانی­های پروپیلیتی، سیلیسی، کلریتی و آرژیلی در سنگ­های میزبان و دیگر واحدهای سنگی منطقه دیده می­شود. کانی­های اولیه شامل اسپیکیولاریت، کالکوپیریت، پیریت و گالن و کانی­های ثانویه شامل مالاکیت، کالکوزیت، کوولیت, گوتیت، هماتیت، لیمونیت، آزوریت و کریزوکلا هستند. بیشترین بی­هنجاری­های زمین شیمی در رگه­ها برای مس تا 5%، سرب تا 3%، نقره 50 گرم در تن ، آرسنیک 100گرم در تن و طلا تا 791 میلی گرم در تن است. براساس موقعیت زمین­شناسی، سنگ­شناسی، کانی­شناسی رگه­های کانی­سازی، ساخت و بافت، گسترش و نوع دگرسانی، کانی­سازی در منطقه اکتشافی فدیهه از نوع مس- طلا همراه با اکسید آهن (IOCG) است.
