مجموعه آذرین بروجرد (گرانیت، گرانودیوریت و کوارتزدیوریت) در نیمه شمالی نوار سنندج-سیرجان واقع است. در این پژوهش، فراوانی عناصر اصلی و کمیاب در کلینوپیروکسن و آمفیبول موجود در کوارتزدیوریت‌ اندازه‌گیری و ترکیب شیمیایی مذاب اولیه‌ای که این کانی‌ها از آن متبلور شده‌اند، محاسبه گردید. ترکیب شیمیایی این مذاب با کوارتز دیوریت بروجرد و همچنین کوارتز دیوریت و سنگ فرامافیک الیگودرز در کنار مجموعه بروجرد مقایسه شد. نتیجه این مقایسه به همراه مدلسازی‌های شیمیایی نشان می‌دهند که ماگمایی مشابه با کوارتز دیوریت الیگودرز دستخوش تبلور بخشی و هضم همزمان سنگ فرامافیک شده است. پیروکسن و آمفیبول از این ماگمای دگرگونه متبلور شده‌اند. سپس این ماگما با ماگمایی مشابه با کوارتز دیوریت الیگودرز آمیخته شده و کوارتز دیوریت بروجرد به وجود آمده است. نقش سنگ‌های فرامافیک در تشکیل کوارتز دیوریت بروجرد نشان می‌دهد که آنها با وجود رخنمون کم در سطح زمین، حجم قابل توجهی در اعماق دارند.
