مجموعه دگرگونی گل­گهر در 55 کیلومتری جنوب­غرب سیرجان و بخش شرقی پهنه سنندج- سیرجان قرار دارد. سنگ­های موجود در منطقه، در رخساره­های شیست سبز و آمفیبولیت بالایی با سن ژوراسیک میانی دگرگون شده مجموعه­ای از سنگ­های متاپلیتی (میکاشیست و گنیس)، متابازیتی، متاکربناتی را تشکیل داده­اند. بررسی­های زمین­شیمیایی نشان می­دهند که رسوبات اولیه متاپلیت­ها، شیل­ها و ماسه­سنگ­هایی جورنشده­ای هستند که اغلب از مواد خاستگاه با ترکیب اسیدی تا حدواسط تشکیل شده­اند. ناحیه خاستگاه، هوازدگی شیمیایی ضعیف تا متوسط را نشان می­دهد. مقدار نسبتاً کم کرم با میانگین  ppm67/99 و نیکل با میانگین ppm 56 در شیست­های مورد بررسی، با تراکم این عناصر در شیست­های پس از آرکئن همخوانی دارند گنیس­های منطقه گل­گهر نشان می­دهد که این سنگ­ها ترکیب رسوبی دارند (پاراگنیس) و از سنگ­های فقیر از آلومینیوم به دست آمده­اند.
