کمپلکس لیگاند-مخلوط مس(II) از واکنش لیگاند سالیسیل آلدهید S-بنزیل ایزوتیوسمی­کربازون هیدروکلرید (H2Lنمک مس(II استات تک­آبه و 1و10-فنانترولین (Phen) با فرمول عمومی[Cu(Phen)2Cl].H2L,Cl,H2O  تهیه شد. ساختار آن به وسیله­ی تجزیه­ی عنصری و طیف­سنجی فروسرخ شناسایی شد و از پراش پرتوی X تک بلور به منظور شناخت بیشتر ساختار مولکولی کمپلکس مس(II) استفاده شد. در کمپلکس مس(II)، هندسه­ی هم­آرایی اطراف اتم مرکزی حدواسط بین هرم با قائده­ی مربعی و دوهرمی مثلثی است. دو لیگاند 1و10-فنانترولین (دهنده­ی NN) به صورت دو دندانه­ی خنثی، به فلز مرکزی همتافته شده است. جایگاه پنجم با اتم کلر اشغال شده است.
