منطقه مورد بررسی در کمربند آتشفشانی- نفوذی ترشیری پهنه لوت واقع است. تزریق توده­های نفوذی ترشیری در سنگ آهک‌های کرتاسه باعث تشکیل اسکارن در این منطقه شده است. نفوذ این سنگ‌ها باعث تغییرات بافتی و کانی­شناسی در محل همبری با سنگ‌های مجاور شده و در برخی موارد واحد آهکی در نزدیکی توده نفوذی تبدیل به مرمر و یا اسکارن شده است. کانه‌زایی آهن به صورت عدسی­شکل بیشتر در مرز توده‌های نفوذی و واحد آهکی صورت گرفته است. بررسی‌های سنگ‌شناختی نشان می­دهند که طیف ترکیبی این توده­ها از کوارتزدیوریت، مونزودیوریت، کوارتز مونزونیت تا گرانودیوریت در تغییر است. این گرانیتوئیدها دارای ماهیت شبه­قلیایی و متا­آلومین بوده و بر اساس ترکیب شیمیایی و ویژگی‌های زمین­شیمیایی، متعلق به سری مگنتیت (نوع I) هستند. غنی­شدگی عناصر خاکی نادر سبک (LREE)، فقر عناصر خاکی نادر سنگین (HREE) و ناهنجاری منفی جزئی Eu از ویژگی‌های آنها بوده و بیانگر فعالیت ماگمایی متاآلومین نوع I کمان‌های آتشفشانی کرانه قاره‌هاست. مقایسه نمودارهای مختلف زمین­شیمیایی نشان دهنده همخوانی سنگ‌های گرانیتوئیدی جنوب معین آباد با نفوذی‌های وابسته به اسکارن‌های آهن است.
