نوار ماگمایی ائوسن کاهک- عباس­آباد، در کرانه شمال شرقی پهنه ساختاری ایران مرکزی، از داورزن در غرب سبزوار تا میامی در شرق شاهرود امتداد دارد. واحدهای سنگی این نوار شامل تناوبی از سنگ­های آتشفشانی بازی - حدواسط (الیوین بازالت، بازالت، تراکی­بازالت، تراکی­آندزی بازالت، تراکی­آندزیت و آندزیت) و سنگ­های آذرآواری رسوبی (انواع توف، بِرِش، آگلومرا، ماسه­سنگ، ­شیل، کنگلومرا، سنگ آهک نومولیتی و سنگ آهک توفی) به سن ائوسن میانی پسین و سنگ­های رسوبی الگیوسن و کواترنری هستند. سنگ­های آتشفشانی این نوار، یک سری تفریقی پیوسته با خاستگاه مشترک از یک ماگمای والد بازالتی هستند. گدازه­های بازالتی آندزیتی منطقه از آنجا که از نوع پیروکسن پورفیری، پلاژیوکلاز پورفیری و پیروکسن- پلاژیوکلاز پورفیری هستند، نمونه­های مناسبی برای بررسی­های توزیع اندازه بلور (CSD) به­شمار می­روند. براساس نتایج این پژوهش، درشت بلور­های پلاژیوکلاز و پیروکسن موجود در سنگ­های آتشفشانی منطقه، به ترتیب در گستره زمانی86 تا 118 سال و با نرخ هسته­بندی از 10-10× 48/1- تا 10-10× 56/1 میلی­متر بر ثانیه و در گستره­ زمانی 104×21/3 تا 104 × 3/6 ثانیه و با نرخ هسته­بندی از  5-10× 55/0 تا  5-10× 2 میلی متر بر ثانیه در آشیانه ماگمایی رشد کرده­اند.
