Abstract:   (130 Views)
The studied amphibole metagabbro is one of the few lithologic units that, in spite of the metamorphic events, ductile deformations and metasomatism have preserved the primary magmatic texture in some locations .The texture is variable from relict igneous texture to foliated texture. Amphibole and plagioclase are the main minerals and pyroxene, quartz, phlogopite, scapolite, calcite, titanite and opaque minerals are the other constituents. Based on petrographic studies and mineral chemistry, calcic amphiboles of the matrix and amphiboles around the clinopyroxens belong to the boundary between low pressure metamorphic hornblende and unaltered igneous Ca- amphibole and magmatic amphibole, respectively. Pyroxene composition shows the magmatic affinity belongs to the sodic augite group. Plagioclase minerals are oligoclase in compositions. Field observations along with the mineral chemistry studies suggest that, the gabbro to scapolitic amphibole metagabbro probably have been enhanced by hydration and amphibolitization of original gabbro and replacement of former minerals.
