کانسار گوشفیل در جنوب غرب اصفهان و در پهنه فلززایی ملایر- اصفهان واقع شده است. کانی­سازی به شکل دیرزادی در مرز شیل­های ژوراسیک و دولومیت کرتاسه تشکیل شده است و کنترل ساختاری دارد. همبرزایی کانیایی شامل اسفالریت، گالن و پیریت است که با کانی­های باطله­ دولومیت، کوارتز، مواد آلی و کمتر باریت همراهی می­شود. این کانی­ها در قالب بافت­های برشی، رگچه­ای، پرکننده فضای خالی و پراکنده دیده می­شوند. دولومیتی­شدن و سیلیسی­شدن مهمترین دگرسانی­ها هستند. شیمی کانه­ها نشان می­دهد که گالن­ها غنی از نقره و آنتیموان و فقیر از بیسموت هستند. نسبت Sb/Bi در کانی گالن بیش از 14 است که شاخصه کانسارهای دما پایین است. اسفالریت­ها غنی از آهن و کادمیوم هستند. برپایه بررسی سیالات درگیر، دمای تشکیل کانسار گوشفیل بین 223 تا 302 درجه سانتیگراد بوده و از محلولی شامل نمک­های CaCl2 و NaCl با درجه شوری بین 5/9 تا 7/16 درصد به وجود آمده است. نوع سنگ میزبان، چینه­کران و دیرزاد بودن کامل کانسار و کنترل کانی­سازی توسط گسل­های پس از رسوبگذاری، بافت، نوع کانه­ها و باطله­های همراه و عدم وجود فعالیت­های آذرین در منطقه نشان می­دهد که کانسار گوشفیل شباهت زیادی با ذخایر نوع دره می سی سی پی (MVT) دارد؛ اما دمای محلول کانه­دار نسبت به ذخایر معمولی دنیا بالاتر است.
